Yes, the Animation Cancel Burst is cool but it is simply an illusion of burst damage.
The third charge of Broken Wings has a slightly different animation. The Riven moves a little more forward and enemies around her are knocked back. Part of this is probably the fact that the Power Level cap has risen so much since Riven was introduced to the game in Forsaken. The active is great for wave clearing and to weave it into combos. Spear of Shojin Shojin changed quite a bit over the years. Wukong and Aatrox had quite a lot of armor towards the end of the game so I opted for Cleaver to finish my build instead of Jaksho. Other option could have been Guardian angle.
Example 2: This game I laned versus a ranged top and so I opted for Hydra rush for the sustain and waveclear. These 2 factors were my main reason to opt for Hydra this game. After Hydra, I went for sundered sky for more healing during combat and for the crit as nobody in enemy team was building armor so I did not need any extra damage, the flat stats from Sundered sky were perfect.
Countless team-fights have been decided by a well-used flash. Statistics have proven that the best choice is Flash and Ignite. You can also gain an advantage in early game by using Riven abilities in a certain order. Each phase of the game differs. Some abilities might be good in late game, but less in early game. Start the game with Broken Wings. Then you should continue with Valor, followed by Ki Burst.
