Well this record has really been about me bringing my songs to the band. The core band is a trio. And so the three of us really arranged everything together, so the sound of the record is very much the three of us. Has that been very different to how you had previously recorded? So it was just really great having the whole story of the last few years of playing with them, in the record. But I love how Jesse plays, I love how Kishore plays. And I love that the arrangements were this very long process. We were meeting every week and sort of naturally tweak different rhythms or a bass melody, so it was this really beautiful long organic process. For a songwriter it can be really challenging and terrifying to let other people bring their own creativity to your song. Something magical happens in that alchemy of collaboration.
Is there something perhaps liberating too, in that dilution of responsibility? Absolutely, for sure. I just get to focus on my parts. Generally I was just wanting them to bring their own voices.

The first ones we did, it was absolutely freezing cold, so much so that it was hard to move my mouth. They seem like a really nice group. Andrea Brown was a murderer, while June Frye was much more victimized. What was it like playing those two characters, and were there any major differences on the set of the show after such a long gap? Oh, interesting. The show felt the same. Watching her and the way that she runs her set is a real joy for me.
She is gracious. I remember, I was there with my younger son, and she was playing with him on the floor, and took us bowling. In my mind, they were two very broken women who second guess themselves, again and again, leading to such a fractured person. He was a little baby when I started in Hawaii. Juliet is still one of my all-time favorite characters. They wrote her with such depth and poetry, and to be an Other was an amazing thing. To be outside of the folds gives you such deep things to play, and we can all identify with being an Other, in one way or another.
I really loved the archetypes, and the way they set things up with the characters. I had a great time. It was one of the most extraordinary, interesting experiences of my life, traipsing through the jungle with all of these amazing people, and also having a newborn at home. It was great. I loved it.

Но в нынешнем концерте Boney M впервые споет в Москве с "живой" группой. Это будет абсолютно фантастически, гораздо более весело и увлекательно, чем прежде. Потому в этот раз мы даже приезжаем за два дня до выступления - хотим все отрепетировать, в том числе и с джазовым ансамблем двух русских братьев Ивановых. Этих музыкантов из России я слышала еще во время прошлого визита в вашу страну.
А теперь пригласила их поучаствовать в нашей программе. Наверное, мало кто знает, что до прихода в Boney M я пела джаз. И теперь решила привнести в нашу музыку новый саунд, новые ритмы. Песни Love For Sail, Sunny, Fever, Motherless Child прозвучат в московском концерте вначале в оригинальных аранжировках, ну а потом я исполню их в блюзе и джазе.
Очень близко к лучшим классическим традициям. РГ: Мне приходилось слышать от многих английских музыкантов о том, что недавно вы даже купили квартиру в Москве?! Митчелл: О, если бы это было правдой смеется. Вы так и скажите этим многим, что я хотела бы иметь квартиру в Москве!

I found it late. I was a bit late the party, but I was pretty obsessed with that. Go on then. Um yeah I think so I had no idea So the Scottish pipes are similar. But yeah, this girl is an amazing piper. What can people expect from the show on the 31st July? So yeah, a five piece which is going to be so much fun. Us too!
