In the early 80s, Barry openly challenged AOL which allowed child pornography in chat rooms. He posed as a kid, and debated them on the floor of Senate. After getting evidence sent to him he took them to task, changed their way of doing business. I always considered him to be a bit of a curmudgeon. I felt a piece of him missing, there was pain or a void in him, that was the thing.
Goldthwait would experiment with new content and developed a strong liking for props. They formed a comedy troupe called The Generic Comics. In their mid-teens, they saw an ad for an open-mic night in Skaneateles that featured comedian Barry Crimmins with the moniker "Bear Cat". He and Kenny went to the event and performed under the monikers Bobcat and Tomcat respectively as a tribute to Crimmins.
Bobcat is perhaps best remembered for his big debut role as "himself" in the movie Police Academy 2, the following Police Academy movies, and his string of comedy specials, including one in 1987, aptly titled Bobcat Goldthwait: Is He Always Like That? By then he had developed his own loyal following, however, and recorded one of his concerts, Meat Bob Live from 1992; he also can be heard on several of the Comic Relief recordings. Throughout the second decade of his career, Bobcat continued to appear in bit parts in a slew of Hollywood B-movies. Bobcat got his start performing in comedy clubs when he was 15 and still attending high school. When he was 19, he made his first television appearance on Late Night with David Letterman.
