These questions feel relayed with genuine interest—he takes feedback and criticism with a bit of personal strain and potency.
I saw that there was not a lot of peace involved in that. My life was quite tumultuous. And I saw that perhaps a steadier life would be more successful regardless of financial outcome.
The show just surprises you so often. The writing just strikes you.
What was your experience of filming Southcliffe in Faversham and Seasalter? It was great. I was really excited when we first went there. I went down there and we walked on the quayside and all the way along the water to The Sportsman. The pub!
Yeah, it was just beautiful, untouched and forgotten landscape and I just felt it was perfect and I just really enjoyed living in that area and experiencing it.

I feel like we created a very honest portrait of grief and loss, which is going to be hard at times. Do you watch much UK television? What did you see when you were over here filming? Not recent drama but I went back and watched a lot of stuff from the eighties and seventies, that I found very inspiring.

We were really close to making it. I worked on a studio film, an adaptation of Little House on the Prairie, that was really close to being made at one point.
So I had a couple of big things fall out in between Martha and The Nest. So you have a Janis Joplin film that falls through at the last minute and you have a Little House on the Prairie that falls through. Were you worried that would also happen with The Iron Claw? For sure. You are from nowhere near Texas.
We grew up in Denton. Sorry, guys. That was me. Or the United States. So how does this happen?
How do you even know who these people are? I wanted more. I was watching WCW as well. And then getting magazines, and then NWA, and then getting into finding everything I could. There was a purity to it.
It was a bit harder. It was a bit dirtier. Just seeing Kevin Von Erich flying off the top rope barefoot and the three brothers together, they just grabbed me. Then, also, I think a big part of it, too, was just I was seeing Kerry live in the WWF at the same time as I was discovering their family. Then I remember the day that I found out he died, and it really haunted me.
