In the wake of the murder of Jordan Neely in NYC, protests have been erupting for days demanding accountability for his killer and significant new investments in housing and healthcare. He was believed to suffer from mental illness. At the time of the encounter with Penny, Neely was said to have been yelling about his frustration with being hungry and homeless.
The 30-year-old vagrant, who once performed as a Michael Jackson impersonator, had been arrested dozens of times — including most recently for vicious assaults on subway riders, court records show. He was supposed to stay in a treatment facility and abstain from drugs. If he had completed the program, the felony assault would have been reduced to a misdemeanor, but he skipped a compliance court date and left the facility.

Al Sharpton in a statement Friday called the charges against Penny "just step one in justice. Kenniff noted, "There is nothing less indicative of flight risk than someone voluntarily surrendering. And in another incident on the same day, while responding to a report of a burglary, cops shot and killed a 78-year-old-man who answered his door while holding a gun. In 2018, NYPD officers shot and killed Saheed Vassell because they said he was holding a metal pipe like it was a gun. The cops said between five and 10 seconds passed between the time they arrived on the scene and the time they shot Vassell. In 2013, NYPD officers shot and killed a 16-year-old kid who they said was acting suspiciously and had a gun.

We Skyped. There was a long gestation where the financiers were talking to me about various ways in which the film could be financed and made on various actors that could attract the finance.
