From 1957 and 1960, YB were Swiss champions four times in a row. During this time, YB became one of the more successful teams in European football and was superior to all Swiss opponents. Young Boys also achieved success in European competition.
At its first appearance in the European Cup , it were politically disadvantaged, however: the Bernese drew the Vasas Budapest , the Hungarian club of the Interior Ministry. Some Swiss politicians demanded that no Swiss sports club should have contacts with the Hungarian football club, especially in Bern, the capital. In the return match, however, Young Boys fell 1—2. YB won the leg in the Nep Stadium 2—1.
The teams drew 2—2 after a 2—0 lead for the Young Boys. A week later, the teams met in the GDR. The game ended 0—0, which at that time required a deciding game. Thus, Young Boys qualified for the European Cup semi-finals.
The game of games in the history of the yellow-and-black took place on 15 April 1959, a rainy Wednesday. Сначала молодой клуб хотел согласиться на эту авантюру, но в итоге парни из «Янг Бойз» решили выступать самостоятельно, чтобы стать полностью независимым коллективом. Из-за того, что «Янг Бойз» был расположен в самом центре Берна, у команды стали естественным образом появляться собственные фанаты. Проведя всего 2 полноценных сезона в профессиональной лиге, «пчелы» праздновали чемпионство. На дворе был 1903 год. Следующее чемпионство команда праздновала уже в 1909 году. И последующие два сезона тоже остались за «Янг Бойз», кстати такого успеха на тот момент смогли добиться только они.
Первый тренер у команды появился только в 1913 году. Англичанин Рейнольд Уильямс возглавил «желто-черных». Однако первая мировая война отодвинула все футбольные перипетии на второй план. После окончания войны в 1920 году «Янг Бойз» в очередной раз выигрывает чемпионат, уже пятый раз в своей истории. Первый кубок Швейцарии команда взяла в 1930 году, обыграв в финале «Арау» со счетом 1-0. После таких триумфов клуб на целых 15 лет остался без трофеев.

Готова ли команда в своем нынешнем виде для решения больших задач? Пока уверенности в этом нет. В голосовании КХЛ за увеличение лимита до 5 хоккеистов против высказались 5 из 20 российских клубов. Даже если предположить, что это кто-то, кто не ответил нам в ноябре, цифры все равно не складываются в одно - как минимум у двух клубов мнения либо поменялись за два месяца вряд ли , либо личная позиция генменеджера не сходится с официальной, которую по той или иной причине надо было выдать на голосовании в лиге. Что очень любопытно и показательно.
Оппозицию лимиту в 5 внутри лиги в любом случае создать не удалось. Теперь вопрос в решении Минспорта, которое должно согласовать старый-новый регламент. Понятно, что, как и в случае с переходом на 3 легионера год назад, все будет решаться переговорами важных людей, которые смогут нужным образом защитить свою точку зрения перед еще более важными людьми. Поняли, что не надо проводить турнир сборных перед сезоном - молодцы. Поняли, что искусственные сборные это прикольно, но несерьезно - и за это скажем спасибо. Опускаем за скобки решение по России - очевидно, что НХЛ не могла пролоббировать ее участие в текущих условиях, даже если бы очень хотела и ведь явно хотела.
Но оказалось, что мы посмотрим уже не Кубок мира, а некий Faceoff четырех наций - это вообще что? Оговорюсь: это лучше, чем ничего.
