To install the batteries remove the Phillips screw, then remove the battery door and insert the batteries. This blaster is compatible with all N strike magazines. I found the position to be a touch too far forward compared to most NERF guns. So when I went to load I would find myself crashing around trying to find the slot more often than I would have liked.
