In 1953 Seldes married the actor Julian Claman, with whom she had one daughter, Katharine, before the couple divorced in 1961. In 1990, she married writer and director Garson Kanin. The marriage lasted until his death in 1999.
Her paternal grandparents were Russian Jewish immigrants, and her mother was from an Episcopalian family with deep roots in the United States. She honed her craft with the legendary Broadway diva, Katharine Cornell , with whom she appeared in the play, "That Lady", in the 1949-50 season. Seldes has long been associated with Albee, appearing in three of his plays, starting with "Tiny Alice" in 1962.

То, что выделяет его в ряду перечисленных мной артистов. Роль Джимми Фингерса - вершина актёрского мастерства. На мой взгляд - лучшая в карьере Кейтеля, а там есть из чего выбрать, как вы помните. Безумная "жилка" очень ярко отыграна, например, в том как Джимми навязывает окружающим свой не самый банальный музыкальный вкус, расхаживая повсюду с магнитолой, включенной на полную громкость. Днём она ваяет скульптуры, а ночью ублажает огромного негра по имени Дримз, БДСМной рабыней которого является.
Кэрол и Дримз Отдельно хотелось бы отметить неординарный кастинг. В "Пальцах" занят пёстрый и весьма интересный набор исполнителей. Судите сами: Джим Браун тот самый Дримз - легенда американского футбола. В 1971 году Джеймс Тобак даже написал о нём книгу. Именно тогда они и познакомились.
