On Day 21, we get a rather basic table, with a gold goblet, a green bottle and a turkey drumstick. On Day 21. With 4 days left, they hit us with some food. At least it looks festive but at this stage in the Advent Calendar you really should be ramping up and building hype as we approach Christmas Eve, not apply the emergency brakes like this. On Day 22, we get Wong, who is all over the MCU thanks to his ability to open portals and be everywhere, all at once. He comes with a Tesseract , a powerful mystical artifact that holds the Space Stone. This one is quite clever conceptually, and I appreciate that they managed to combine a festive component with an Avengers reference in a way that makes plenty of sense. On the plus side, the minifigure department is pretty decent, and I love that we get Spider-Man and Black Widow in ugly Christmas sweaters. Just getting his Hammer on the Fireplace is such a missed opportunity, and the lack of Loki is also very noticeable, especially as he has a throne. That said, 7 big-name characters are pretty good, and sorta make up for the lackluster days and builds. Bit of a weird one — not the worst day but I do wish it was slightly more clear what this is meant to be. Check back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 16! The colour scheme is unlike any of the other builds, and does a great job of injecting some green into all the dark red and grey. Come back tomorrow to see what we get on Day 17!
I wonder if Loki is next! Day 17 On Day 17 we get…. This is truly bewildering that we only get the Cloak of Levitation and no Doctor Strange minifigure. Are they saving him for tomorrow? I sure hope he comes! He comes with some magical green effects for his hands, but he looks so strange heh without his trusty red sentient cloak.

Seemingly saving the best for last, Drax has been missing in a lot of the recent Guardians of the Galaxy-related sets. But that all changes today, as Drax is finally making the cut with an all-new festive version. Clearly inspired by the end credits scene of Volume 1, Drax comes decked out in a holiday sweater adorned with a dancing Baby Groot. There are some little music notes on either side of the planted Groot, who also rocks a Santa hat to really lean into the holiday theming. The day that everyone, myself included, has been waiting for.
The LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar may be known for its yearly holiday renditions of classic minifigures decked out with new festive prints, but my eyes are always on the fresh takes on different Gonk Droid designs. Look at their little beard and his festive cap. Complete with a sack of what can fittingly be presumed to be presents, the model is now fully together. And the execution specifically is pretty solid. The build here might be on the more simple side, but I am loving just how well the designer was able to craft a Wampa cave out of so few pieces. It looks fantastic with Luke hanging from the top and is such a neat little vignette that we hardly see from these holiday countdown kits. These identical builds clip on to either side of the cockpit and actually makes the ship come together. The red and white color scheme is getting some extra accenting from the blue thrusters on either side, and the design now even further merges the distinct Ravager ship look with more festive cues. As far as this actual minifigure goes, the Hoth Luke Skywalker is nothing new.
This time around, the Hoth Laser Cannon is making the cut with a tiny build that makes perfect use of its 11 included bricks. This wearable accessory is designed specifically to pair with Groot, turning the Guardian of the Galaxy into a walking decoration. Which is exactly what I look for in these Advent Calendar builds.
