Кирилл Кабанов «Айлендерс» Несколько месяцев назад Кирилла считали одним из самых ярких талантов мира, сейчас его забрали только в третьем раунде драфта. Сергей Кабанов, организовавший для своего сына на редкость бесполезную PR-кампанию, должен быть благодарен за то, что его вообще кто-то взял. В прошлом сезоне у Кабанова-младшего было больше скандальных интервью, чем заброшенных шайб, и это не могло не сказаться на отношении к нему со стороны клубов НХЛ. Просто «Айлендерс» сейчас в таком положении, что отказываться от любого таланта, пусть и с такой репутацией, им нельзя.
Для Кабанова это, несомненно, плюс. Пробиться в состав команды, которая все еще ведет перестройку, ему будет проще. В прошлом сезоне тридцатку голов за «Айлендерс» забил Мэтт Моулсон, в свое время выбранный под 263-м номером.
За время уик-энда «островитяне» усилили резерв тремя фланговыми нападающими — Нидеррайтер, Кабанов и Джейсон Кларк. Кабанов, как и Кларк, еще совсем «сырые», и впереди у них, как минимум, год-другой выступлений в юниорских лигах. Как сложится его судьба — пока совсем не ясно.
Начал он с того, что в 16 лет набирал больше очка за игру среди американских юниоров, чего со времен Томаса Ванека никто не добивался. Потом — не очень понятный сезон в юниорской лиге Квебека: очков много, голов — всего 15. У Стаса отмечают проблемы с реализацией.
Эка невидаль! В «Вашингтоне» это нормально, там каждый может не хуже мазать. Низкую результативность пока можно отнести и на счет старших партнеров, которые не дали раскрыться.
Зато рослый Галиев приучился работать на команду и адаптировался окончательно в Северной Америке, непринужденно разговаривает по-английски. У большинства скаутов и экспертов Станислав входил в топ-30 или хотя бы топ-40 до драфта.
Но во второй день драфта они исправились и взяли форварда Андрея Алтыбармакяна. Он так же, как и Волков, выступает в системе СКА. В прошедшем сезоне Андрей обратил на себя внимание тем, что в прямом смысле зажигал на Матче звёзд КХЛ. Форварду московского «Динамо» Алексею Липанову прочили выбор даже в первом раунде, но в итоге он стал лишь 76-м. На него глаз положила «Тампа».
Липанов был капитаном юниорской сборной России на последнем чемпионате мира, его сравнивают с Игорем Ларионовым и Джонатаном Тэйвзом. Два года назад они выбрали Ивана Федотова из нижнекамского «Реактора», но это только вскружило ему голову и подпортило карьеру. Сейчас свой выбор в третьем раунде они потратили на Кирилла Устименко, который родился в Беларуси, но получил российский паспорт и выступает в МХЛ в петербургском «Динамо». Сын в прошлом известного футбольного вратаря Андрея Саморукова Дмитрий «отмучился» в третьем раунде — «Эдмонтон Ойлерз» обратил на него внимание. Сын другого известного, но уже хоккейного голкипера Вадима Тарасова Даниил пропустил весь прошлый сезон из-за травмы, но «Коламбус» видел его в деле годом ранее и посчитал, что 86-й выбор на драфте стоит потратить именно на этого игрока. Тем более кумиром в детстве Сергея Бобровского был именно Вадим Тарасов. Первый русский выбор «Вегаса» и падение Попугаева Возвращаясь к Устименко, он был вторым вратарём сборной России на последнем ЮЧМ, где россияне взяли первые за шесть лет медали.
He has very good hockey sense, and anticipates his teammates movements in the offensive zone. Hischier has a very quick first step, excellent acceleration and agility, as well as great edgework. This, along with quick hands, allow him to avoid defenders and make him very elusive when working the puck in the offensive zone. Hischier also has a very high work ethic, he never seems to stop working during a shift.
The answer is Callan Foote. Foote scored eight goals and 36 points in 71 games as a WHL rookie, showing real offensive prowess. Foote is an excellent skater. He skates well in both directions, and solid pivots and edgework allow him to cover a lot of ice.
Its more about battling in the corners and clearing the front of the net than throwing big open-ice hits though. Foote has a hard slap shot which he keeps low and puts on net. He also has good poise with the puck on his stick, and the vision to quarterback things from the point on the power play. He topped that in his second year, putting up 19 goals and 71 points in just 57 games.
The 71 points led the Chiefs in Scoring. He scored seven goals and 13 points in just seven games in the tournament. A late birthday, he is not eligible until the 2017 draft, when he will have just completed his third year in the WHL. Yamamoto has tremendous hands, he is a great stickhandler and can bury goals in tight to the goalie.
He also is very quick to loose pucks with great acceleration and a really quick first step. More a play maker than a goal scorer, he uses his quickness and stickhandling to open up passing lanes. Yamamoto can feather passes tape-to-tape to his linemates and has outstanding vision. He also put up 15 goals and 34 points in 37 games playing in the under 20 SuperElite league.
A versatile player, Vesalainen has experience playing both wings. He has excellent size, and uses it to protect the puck along the boards and extend plays in the cycle. Gifted with a large wing-span, Vesalainen takes advantage of it to play keep-away with defenders. A budding power forward, Vesalainen wins battles along the boards, and is not afraid to fight through checks to get to the front of the net.
Vesalainen also has an excellent shot. His skating is surprisingly quick, and his stride long and fluid. He plays a strong two-way game and covers a lot of ground for a big man. Hague scored 14 goals last season, showing off a powerful slap shot on the power play.
He is able to move laterally and walk the line to open up shooting lanes to get his shot through.
However, if three other teams had been much wiser, it could have been a reality. On the other hand, later selection Frost is currently having exactly the type of success with the Flyers that Buffalo is salivating for from Mittelstadt.
Original Pick: Michael Rasmussen The Michael Rasmussen pick seemed to be a winner early into the development stages of this draft class. Original Pick: Gabriel Vilardi Although Brannstrom has since been moved by the team that had originally drafted him, the crafty Swede has already begun to emerge as an NHL capable defender. The team was widely expected to be targeting a forward with the pick, however, at the time, Max Comtois, who had been ranked as high as the top-10, has seen his stock drop all the way out of the first round. In hindsight, Comtois was in fact worthy of a first-round pick, however, just falling out of the top-10. Despite being moved out of the desert and onto colder pastures, Suzuki is well on his way to proving his value at the NHL as a rookie with the Canadiens. Original Pick: Cal Foote The Lightning desired a defenseman to slide into their top-four with the 14th overall selection.
With several blueliners projected to go in the second half of the first round, Al Murray opted for Foote.

Makar also led his team in scoring as a defenseman in 2018-19 and would go on to win the Hobey Baker award, the first in the history for the school. Makar had a more than unique breakout with the Avs as he was called up to play for the team in the 2018-19 playoffs, where he adapted almost immediately, registering a goal and six points in 10 playoff games, cementing himself undoubtedly into the Avalanche roster for years to come.
