Доступ к порталам Как я уже отмечал ранее, многие порталы должны быть активированы при помощи ключа. Ключи для активации портала Как правило, ключи связаны с тем местом, куда ведет портал, или же где находится вход. И зачастую чем более труднодоступной и опасной является локация, тем более редким и дорогим будет ключ к порталу. Например, для активации портала на один из слоёв Баатора может понадобиться часть сердца Демона Ямы, убитого определенным способом. А для путешествия к одному из слоёв Семи Небес может потребоваться рунический свиток, начертанный рукой легендарного рыцаря паладина.
Поиск ключей к некоторым особенным порталам может занять годы и потребует путешествий в разные миры через сотни других порталов, прохождение через десятки сложных битв и победу над каким-либо древним драконом, демоном или полубожеством. Но зачастую ключом к порталу могут быть и гораздо более простые обыденные вещи, например перо птицы определенного вида. В Сигиле есть фонтан, который на самом деле является порталом, и для его активации нужно бросить монетку в чашу фонтана, после чего загадать желание. Портал не активируется, если желание не будет искренним.
Загадки Иногда для активации портала требуется разгадать загадку, или решить головоломки. Каноничным примером является необходимость передвинуть рычаги в нужном порядке, или повернуть статуи по определенной схеме. Также, ключом к порталу может быть короткая фраза или одно слово, которое вам нужно будет разгадать, по весьма расплывчатому описанию, древнему стихотворению или даже песне. Теперь рассмотрим немаловажное заблуждение, которое мне приходилось слышать множество раз от приключенцев.
Многие почему-то считают, что глядя в портал, можно увидеть, что находится по ту сторону. Данное утверждение верно лишь отчасти, но такой особенностью обладают лишь малый процент порталов, и как правило такими являются временные порталы, не требующие ключа активации. Большая часть порталов представляет собой большое цветное пятно света, которое либо вообще не позволяет разглядеть, что находится на другой стороне, либо покажет размытые неясные образы. А вот по цвету портала зачастую как раз таки можно определить, на какой план существования он ведет.
Ну и не забывайте о том, что многие порталы вообще нельзя определить визуально, они могут представлять собой каменную арку, обычную дверь, уже упомянутый мною фонтан, да что угодно. Что касается закрытия порталов, то здесь также не все так однозначно. Если вам требуется закрыть портал, то для этого может потребоваться простейшее действие, например временные порталы могут быть закрыты просто при перемещении через них какого-либо существа, а возможно придется применять магию, которая доступна только действительно могущественным волшебникам. В целом, справедлив следующий принцип — чем древнее портал, тем сложнее его закрыть.
То же касается и применения магии для изменения характеристик портала, или его перемещения в другое место. Постоянные древние порталы порою не поддаются даже самой мощной магии, и для их закрытия потребуются легендарные артефакты, либо божественное вмешательство. Странник, как ты заметил, в своей истории я несколько раз упоминал город дверей Сигил и его госпожу Леди Боли. Ведь если темой обсуждения являются порталы, то ни в коем случае нельзя обойти вниманием Сигил, на территории которого сосредоточено несчетное число порталов практически в любое место вселенной.
Общеизвестно, что все порталы находятся под контролем Леди Боли, и многие ученые считают, что она не только может создавать новые и закрывать любые порталы на территории города по своей воле, но и что именно Королева Клинков является создателем всех порталов и вообще всего Сигила. Впрочем эти сведения опровергаются многими источниками, согласно которым бог порталов Аоскар именуется создателем всех порталов в Сигиле и конструктором самого города дверей. More Monsters The new Monster Manual will have over 500 monsters. This is a significant increase over the 300 monsters featured in the 2014 Monster Manual. Actions Multiattack The Nightwalker attacks twice each round, equating to either two uses of Enervating Focus or one coupled with a single use of Finger of Doom. They must also succeed on a hefty constitution saving throw of DC 21. If it fails, its hit point maximum is reduced by the same amount as the damage they took, making this damage permanent until they receive a Greater Restoration spell or finish a long rest.
Finger of Doom This attack is bonkers. This thing hits from 300ft away, which is just absurd. Needless to say, if the Nightwalker can see you, it can target you with this. The target is forced to take a Wisdom saving throw and must beat DC 21. This means that a Nightwalker can paralyze someone 40ft, move over to them, and hit them with a second attack that has the advantage, causes double damage, and reduces their maximum hit points by the same amount, all in one turn.
Fortunately, this attack has a significant cooldown, recharging only on a 6. This makes it a one-shot ability, for the most part.

A man is sitting on a bench, frowning. He will tell players that he was mugged last night and robbed of everything he had. Players can give him some money to help him out. A group of children are playing with a ball and get into a fight. A woman comes out of her house and yells at them to stop fighting or she will beat them all up. She is holding a wooden spoon and looks like she means business! A lone woman wearing a dark cloak and carrying a staff can be seen walking down the street. She appears to be looking for something or someone. The players can hear an argument coming from a house nearby.
If they investigate, they will find two men arguing over some money that was owed to one of them. They will stop arguing if they notice the players and offer them some ale if they stay and listen to their story. They will continue their argument once the players get drunk enough! A drunken nobleman staggers down the street, singing loudly about how much he loves his wife! He will stop and offer players some ale if they buy him one! A man comes out of his house and shoos them away before heading back inside. Barmaid and drunk. The drunk is trying to convince the barmaid to sleep with him.
A group of children are playing hide-and-seek. A group of men are arguing about whether or not a horse is a mammal. A drunk man is trying to steal a horse from a stable. A woman is trying to sell a basket of apples. A woman is trying to sell a basket of flowers. Two men are arguing about whether or not the sun orbits around the Earth or the Earth orbits around the sun. Two men are arguing about whether or not the moon landing was real or if it was staged in a film studio. A group of elderly women is protesting outside of a bank.
They want the bank to give them their money because they think that the bank has been stealing from them over the years. The PCs see a man who looks like he is about to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge into a river below. The man says that he is tired of living and wants to die. He asks the PCs to join him in jumping off the bridge into the river below. The well-dressed men are demanding money from the man who looks like he is about to be robbed. A group of men are holding up a group of women and demanding that they give them all of their money and valuables. The women are crying and begging as the men hold them at gun point. A group of young children are playing in the street.
The children are playing a game where they pretend to be adult heroes who are fighting against an evil king and his army of orcs, goblins, and dragons. A group of men are arguing about whether or not they should hire a group of mercenaries to go with them on an adventure that they are planning on going on. A man is standing on top of a tall building near the center of the city, threatening to jump off of the building if anyone comes near him or tries to talk to him or reason with him or anything like that. This is not a suicide attempt, but instead this is a protest against the government for not doing anything about all of the crime in the city and for not providing enough protection for its citizens. A group of children are playing a game where they pretend that they are adventurers who are fighting against a dragon in an underground dungeon filled with treasure and magic items and traps and monsters and all of that good stuff. A group of adults are arguing about whether or not they should hire a group of mercenaries to go with them on an adventure that they are planning on going on. Unexpectedly, you see a local priest being chased by a giant snake. The snake is not attacking, it is just trying to catch the priest.
The priest is running as fast as he can. If you help the priest, he will tell you that he is in trouble because he owes some bad guys money. He will offer to repay you with some magic items if he can just get away from the snake.

The poor suffer, and the hungry are swelling in the streets. It will be bloody. This public embarrassment has gone on long enough now that it has been decided: actions must be taken. One of the lovers has secrets that could embarrass the monarchy at best, or be used for purposes of blackmail at worst. Dangerous ones. The populace decides to do something about it over the coming week, and tensions are already starting to simmer in the streets. It is putting a real strain on shipments and clogging up the traffic.
In reality, the thieves guild managed to steal a precious magical artifact from the Supreme Wizard during an epic heist. There were many casualties, and even the bride and groom both attempted to kill each other. This has happened at least once before, recently, and it has people on edge- leery of outsiders. Rumor or not- the city guard is imposing a curfew tonight: nobody in the streets after dark. Penalties for re-circulating the fake money are very harsh. Bootleg can still be found, but only under heavy secrecy and for high dollar. The landlord owns a fleet of merchant ships and is threatening to not sell necessary medicine and food to renters who participate in the protest.
The town has only the resources to begin picking up the pieces, not investigate the cave-in just yet, leaving the PCs free to explore. The arraignment of the bodies appears to be a failed attempt at some kind of ritual. In reality, this was caused by a local Secret Society, and only they can undo what they have unleashed. He is convinced that someone is opening a portal to the abyss and bringing death to his nearby grove... Amp this up by having the fires be places the PCs have visited... Zombie outbreak 2. Ancient evil back to life 3.
Random wild magic surges happens 4. If the PCs look into it [2d4] days, the child can be found alive, buried in the graveyard.

Spectators possessed a perfect internal clock, able to tell exactly when a certain amount of time had elapsed with extreme precision. Because spectators came from Nirvana, they were best adapted to equal amounts of environmental factors, light and dark, heat and cold, liquid and solid terrain etc. Each was born with the ability to levitate, along with the eye ray power of whatever stalk they came from. One spectator had the ability to create food and water and shared it with its siblings. Every 3 months a new eye power would be gained and the spectators would grow larger. After a year passed, each spectator would leave their birth home and create their own lair. Once a spectator became 1,000 years old the cycle would reverse in a sense, with their eyes becoming progressively larger and their body slowly turning smaller at the same points in time that the new spectators would gain eye powers. At 9 months old the spectator would grow 4 tiny eye stalks on each of its old eye stalks and 3 months afterwards would die, causing the cycle to begin anew.
Neither newborn, nor elderly spectators could be summoned via the ritual. The spectators caused panic and chaos in the city and guarded the entrance to Undermountain.
The priest is running as fast as he can. If you help the priest, he will tell you that he is in trouble because he owes some bad guys money.
He will offer to repay you with some magic items if he can just get away from the snake. A group of local kids are playing with a ball. The ball accidentally bounces into a nearby building, breaking a window. The kids will run away.
The players can either deal with the owner of the building or try to fix the broken window themselves. A group of men are talking about how terrible their jobs are. One of the men is a blacksmith. If players talk to him, he will tell them about how much he hates his job and how he wants to quit but he has no other skills and no other way to make a living.
You see a group of people gathered around a stage. There is an old man on the stage who is telling stories about his adventures as a younger man. The stories are very long and very detailed. If players listen long enough, they will gain minor knowledge about an interesting dungeon nearby.
Two men are arguing about whether or not a nearby dungeon is haunted. If players talk to them, they will reveal that they are both right and wrong at the same time. You see a man who appears to be drunk stumble around town. He passes out at random places, waking up and stumbling around again after a few minutes.
He is actually a spy for an enemy nation. A group of people are gathered around an elderly woman who is telling stories about her adventures as a younger woman. If players listen long enough, they will learn about an interesting dungeon nearby. A group of men are gathered around an elderly man who is telling stories about his adventures as a younger man.
A group of young men are gathered around an elderly man who is telling stories about his adventures as a younger man. Pestilence has struck this district. A random resident in the area will become ill and cough blood for several days. If the players do not help, the illness will spread to everyone in the area.
The illness is caused by a necromancer in a nearby tower. A group of revelers are celebrating their recent marriage. The party is about to head back to their home, but first, they want to stop at the first tavern they see for one last drink. A group of noblemen are taking a stroll through the city.
They will run into the players and invite them to their party that night. If the players accept, they will be treated like kings and queens for the night. If they decline, they will be scowled at and told to go away. A group of thieves is planning a heist in this district.
They are currently scouting out the area and looking for potential threats and traps around the area they plan on robbing. A man is running down the street yelling about an evil cult that is setting up in the area. He says he has evidence that they are up to no good, but he needs help getting it out of his house before they find it and kill him. A man is selling maps to an underground dungeon that no one knows about except him.
A group of soldiers is standing guard outside a building on the corner of a street in the city. The soldiers are protecting something inside that no one else knows about yet. A group of nobles are taking a stroll through the city. Wagon full of grain is overturned and blocking the road.
The road is blocked by a wagon full of hay. A man is standing on the side of the road, weeping.
Many spells rely on saving throws based on these stats, so spellcasters must be clever with their attack choices to be effective. The Fireball spell has legendary meme status for its effectiveness in almost all encounters. Any spell or ability that relies on this is bound to fail against the Nightwalker. Bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from non-magical attacks. Damage Immunities: Necrotic. Condition Immunities: Exhaustion. A considerable amount of resistances and immunities, but another thing that stands out about the Nightwalker is the lack of vulnerabilities. Usually, undead creatures are vulnerable to radiant damage.
Not so with the Nightwalker, such a condensed collection of negative energy that even divinity struggles to make a mark. Even so, remembering the only options for dealing total damage to this creature is worthwhile: radiant, force, and psychic.
