In response to popular demand, Revit 2024 has also introduced a dark theme. Working with this professional design software, architects and landscape designers may need to visualize their Revit models in a realistic and immersive way, allowing them to quickly make changes, improve collaboration, and better communicate design ideas.
Thus, real-time rendering provided by D5 Render comes in handy for an instant preview of design projects. It has a livesync plugin to connect with Revit 2024 so that designers can see their projects rendered on the fly.
The release of Revit 2024 is quite interesting. However, the software is not evolving slower than the industry would like. Some of the tools should be recreated from scratch instead of getting patched.
Nevertheless, Autodesk did a good job overall. This article covers the general and architectural features of Revit 2024. The new design includes redesigned icons for both light and dark themes, which aims to reduce screen glare and enhance the viewing experience. After using it, I prefer it. The Canvas Theme button on the View ribbon tab enables easy switching of the graphics window between light and dark without affecting the rest of the interface.
Interface adjustments are available in the options on the Colors panel. This more interactive feature, highlighting entries as you order, is handy for large projects with numerous views, sheets, schedules, and families in the project browser.
In addition to that, there are also new Contour Display options. One thing to note: right now you need to use voids to cut out sections of the Toposolids. There will hopefully be a new tool in the future to be able to handle cuts in Toposolids in a better way. Our team is certainly looking forward to being able to host families on toposolids.
Revit has made it so floor-based families and railings are able to be hosted onto them, which is definitely something that can be used in a variety of projects. Both of these buttons have an arrow for additional options. These options have been available in a project file for annotation items and work the same as they do in the. We will definitely be using this feature to arrange the annotation files when creating families. It might take a while to get the hang of how it works but it seems like a good addition. For those of us who used to work in AutoCAD, not having a dark theme in Revit always took a while to get used to.
We finally have a dark theme in Revit and it does very much seem worth the wait. It has several options to really customize it. To turn it on, you will need to navigate to the File tab in the upper right and then select the Options button. There is a new tab in this property box named Colors. In this tab, you will be able to set Dark Theme or Light Theme with the dropdown. The rest of the colors can be customized in each theme using RGB colors.
After making the change to Dark Theme, the UX and drawing area will go dark. The nice thing is that the drawing area can be controlled separately.

You can also do this from the View tab by selecting the View icon, which will open a window that will also allow you to select multiple views at a time. Both of these buttons have an arrow for additional options. These options have been available in a project file for annotation items and work the same as they do in the. This is a great feature for those who are having to manage Revit and IFC exports. Once the mapping for the components is set up, there is an option in IFC Export to select the entities to export. To navigate to it you will need to select Modify Setup and then the Advance tab. Highlights from Autodesk.
Resize All Schedule Rows When a schedule on a sheet is selected, there are now a few options in the Properties Palette to control the row height and rotation on the sheet. Schedule Revision Clouds Revision clouds can now be scheduled. This includes the ability to schedule related information such as the sheet or view name that the cloud is placed on. Figure 13. Open Sheet Directly from View If a view is placed on a sheet, that sheet can now be opened quickly via right-clicking within the view and selecting Open Sheet as shown here.

Place Multiple Views and Schedules Multiple selected views and schedules can be dragged from the Project Browser onto a sheet. These are spaced out sufficiently so they do not overlap, but they likely require manual adjustment once placed. It is also possible to drag views from one sheet to another within the Project Browser as shown in Figure 16, in which case the views are positioned in the same location. Figure 15. Example of a dialog enhanced to be resizable. Sorting of Project Parameters in Properties Project parameters are now sorted alphanumerically in the instance and type properties dialogs. Family parameters are unchanged from previous behavior. Architectural The architectural discipline has several new features and will make a lot of architects and designers happy. Of course, we will all have wishlist items not found in the update. Be sure to head to the Revit Ideas site and make sure you post or vote for enhancements you want. Here is an example of a much needed enhancement to the Bind Revit Link Revit Idea that would maintain phases — most do not realize that all phase settings are lost when you bind a Revit link until they need to do it!
Textures View Style Revit has a new view style called Textures. I was in the beta user group for this one. It is a cross between shaded and realistic. It shows the appearance asset texture but without global lighting, so the materials are a consistent color on all surfaces and at all angles. Sun settings on ribbon When running a solar study, the sun settings are now presented on the ribbon as shown below. Clicking the sun setting button opens the traditional sun settings dialog with the same settings. Another enhancement includes the ability to select much shorter time increment options. Figure 22. Улучшения передачи данных из Revit в Twinmotion В меню Twinmotion добавлена функция «Автосинхронизация». Она позволяет автоматически обновлять модель в Twin, если в связанном виде Revit произошли изменения. В общем, почти как Enscape, только бесплатно… Конструкции Дополнительные параметры выравнивания по траектории для арматурных стержней произвольной формы Арматура произвольной формы — это следующие инструменты: Для данных стержней добавили немного функционала для расположения массивов по наклонным или криволинейным поверхностям. Теперь возможно поворачивать массив арматуры: Переключение положения отгибов для арматурного стержня произвольной формы Возможно крутить клавишей «Пробел» положение отгибов. Само размещение таких эскизов можно выносить с маркой или выровненным относительно исходных стержней. Так же можно выносить сразу несколько деталей. В самой спецификации на вкладке «Форматирование» у параметра «Эскиз» появилась кнопка, через которую можно настроить различные отображения.

Site tools Looking at the massing and site tab below, you will notice a lot has changed. The site tools represent the most significant change in Revit 2024 for architects, which is both exciting and a little scary! We now have a toposolid command rather than a toposurface. As the name change implies, the ground is now represented by solid geometry rather than a 2D surface. This is the exciting part. Missing from the ribbon below is the building pad command, which is the scary part — I will explain this in the next section. Figure 24. Comparing Revit 2024 site tools to previous versions. Toposolid Replaces Toposurface Although the toposurface and building pads are no longer available, they are preserved when a model is updated to Revit 2024. Those elements can be modified and copied. You just cannot create new instances as the commands are gone. Figure 25 shows a toposurface and building pad after an initial model upgrade. Figure 25. Example of a pre-Revit 2024 toposurface and building pad. To convert a toposurface, select it and follow the steps shown in Figure 26. Step 2 involves selecting a toposurface family type that can have several surface characteristics preset. Figure 26. The steps to upgrade a toposurface to a toposolid. The toposurface is not deleted as this would delete the building pads which need to be recreated manually. Since there is no building pad tool, Autodesk recommends that an in-place mass set to cut the toposolid be created, as shown in Figure 27. This provides a lot more options, like tunnels and sloped edges. The biggest challenge is that the workflow is not as intuitive for the average Revit user, in my opinion. Figure 27. The suggested replacement for the building pad tool is an in-place mass void. Sub-regions are automatically converted to sub-divisions. Figure 28 shows the various type settings for this new element. Notice two things. First, the toposolid is fundamentally based on the floor element. Second, the contour settings are now set per object type rather than globally. Figure 28. Toposolid properties. Knowing that the element is essentially an enhanced floor element, note that apply materials is a little odd. Then I had to paint a grass material on the surface. The tricky part with painting is that the surface is made up of several facets and required several picks to paint the entire surface.
New Features Autodesk Revit 2024

Сортировка параметров проекта Раньше параметры проекта сортировались по времени их добавления в проект. По факту это сортировка не по времени, а по ID параметров. Чем позже добавляете параметр, тем больший номер в ID он получит, вот и получается сортировка по времени. Теперь в свойствах типа и экземпляра эти параметры сортируются по имени в алфавитном порядке. Очень хорошо. Высота областей видимости Когда-нибудь я разберусь с этим инструментом и напишу статью, но до версии 2024 высоту области видимости нужно было подбирать на 3Д-виде руками. Теперь можно вбить высоту в свойствах.
С одной стороны, отображаются текстуры, как на реалистичном виде, а с другой стороны, при этом нет освещения, как у заливки. В итоге получаем визуальный стиль, который симпатичнее заливки, но легче, чем реалистичный режим. Сравните сами 4 режима. Переименовали «Шрифт заголовков» в «Текст заголовка». Самое дикое — «Прочее» перевели как «Другая». Где брать, пока не нашёл. Новинки для инженеров Толщина стенки труб в Ревит 2024 Толщина стенки труб в Ревит 2024 Завезли новый параметр для труб с их толщиной стенки. Не сказать, что супер полезно, хотя в целом удобно. Скрытие изоляции вместе с трубой или воздуховодом Если выделить воздуховод или трубу с изоляцией и скрыть воздуховод или трубу, то вместе с ними скроется и их изоляция. Скорее это удобно, чем излишне. Обычно новички сталкиваются с проблемой, что трубу скрыли фильтром, а на 3Д-виде какая-то как будто труба осталась, выделить нельзя, непонятно, что это. Теперь такого не будет, скрыли основу — скрывается и изоляция. Ориентация аннотаций воздухораспределителей В семейства воздухораспределителей добавили галочку «Сохранять ориентацию аннотаций».
Ранее её добавляли в другие категории, теперь дело и до решёток дошло.
You can use Split tool from the Modify tab to split a toposlid into multiple toposolids. You can use Graded Region tool on toposolids in Existing phase. Grading of surface points at toposolids works the same way as the shape editor at floors. Sub-Divide tool replaced Subregion tool. You can use Sub-Divide to apply different materials to a toposolid. Then you can set material and height thickness for each sub-division. Mass void replaced Building Pad tool. Create void mass and use the Cut tool to create hole in the Toposolid. This workflow is less comfortable than using Building Pad tool but it enables to create any shape for site excavations or tunnels.
Cutting enabled for topography. You can cut a toposolid with other toposolids or with elements in other categories, including walls, floors, structural foundations, etc. In previous versions of Revit, you probably used railings to create curbs. In this version you can use Floor Slab Edge, but take into account that it can only be placed on the edge of the toposolid, the edge of subdivision is not supported. Modernized and improved user interface Dark theme. Revit provides dark theme which allows you to set AutoCAD-style interface. The color of the main window can be set separately using Canvas Theme tool located in the View tab. My Insight panel. At Revit Home you can find new My Insights panel. From here you can preview usage data and the most used commands, and find out how to optimize workflows.
The icons look more modern. New sample project imperial only. Snowdon Towers, a mixed-use building model that you can use as an example and learning resource. The sample project includes seven Revit files architectural, structural, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, existing facades, site and context.

Best New Features in Revit 2024 Next to the major overhaul of the User Interface, menus, and options, Revit 2024 introduced some other nice features which I listed below. From a flat surface Toposurface we are now allowed to create a solid 3D geometry with the Toposolid. This new feature works like any other system family, such as floor, roof, etc. It is not advisable to do this as it will likely be deleted in the future. As mentioned, Toposolid works like any other system family and can be created out of different layers with thickness and different materials. The new template contains six pre-made Toposolids with varying layers, giving you examples of how to create, roads, grassland, jetty, and lakes. While using the new Toposolid, you can cut this solid with other elements, such as Walls, Floors, etc. As a result, the graphics inside the view will now show correctly. This method can be more complex and time-consuming, but allows you to create any shape you want. Hopefully, we will get a better tool in the future. You can find the Sun settings in the ribbon on the right side. The settings dialog still looks the same as the earlier Revit versions, a minor improvement has been made to the Time Interval feature, which now offers additional increments. Revit now offers intervals of 15, 30, 45, and 60 seconds, which allows you to analyze shadows with greater accuracy.
